Pre-congress Cantabria

The pre-congress will be held between September 5 and 8 in the Ason Region and the towns of Ramales de la Victoria and Arredondo, located southeast of Santander, with good road access. They are probably the two most emblematic towns in the cradle of Spanish caving. To enrol in the pre-congress it is essential to be registered in the Congress, using the online form. We also inform you that in this form the possibility of registering in a means of transport that will link Ramales de la Victoria with Burgos, for those who do not have a vehicle.

MONDAY. September 5, 2022

From 5:00 p.m. arrival in Ramales/Arredondo. Reception of speleologists and accreditations in the Public Library. Orense Foundation. Paseo Barón de Adzaneta, 8. 39800 – Ramales de la Victoria

19:00h: Opening, official opening, presentation. Public Library. Orense Foundation. Paseo Barón de Adzaneta, 8 39800 Ramales de la Victoria. Exhibition and presentation: “The great underground systems of Cantabria”.

20:30h: Speletion-reception. Duques de la Victoria Square-Ramales de la Victoria.

TUESDAY. September 6, 2022.

En route to Burgos Tourist cave options Option

EL SOPLAO Ramales el Soplao cave = 1h 30 ́ CUEVA-MINA EL SOPLAO Conventional tourist visit (1h.) Adventure visit (2:30h.) Visit to the mine (3h.) After the activity you can eat at “El Soplao”, the cost will be borne by each interested party. Continuation to Burgos through the Port of Piedrasluengas and Palentina Mountain Natural Park. Approximately 3 hours.

MONTE CASTILLO. PUENTE VIESGO Ramales – Monte Castillo = 1h Caves with Palaeolithic art of El Castillo and Las Monedas. After finishing it will be eaten in the village, the cost will be borne by each person. Continuation to Burgos through the Port of “El Escudo” and the Natural Space of “Las Hoces del Alto Ebro and Rudrón”. 2h 15 ́
